Stop Uber emails
Uber manages marketing email, text messages and push notifications through a communication settings page, linked from its rider help article. Receipts and support messages are transactional and cannot be turned off.
How to unsubscribe
Change your communication settings
Open the Uber Help article on updating your communication preferences and follow the Communication settings link to the marketing consent page. Turn off the emails you no longer want there.
Text STOP for Uber text messages
According to Uber, you can also text STOP to +1 415 237 0403 to opt out of text messages from Uber, or START to opt back in. Message and data rates may apply.
Unsubscribing does not work? Object
If the emails keep coming, or the link does not work, you have a stronger tool. If you live in the EU or the UK, Article 21 GDPR lets you object to the use of your data for direct marketing at any time, without giving a reason. After that, Uber may no longer use your data for it, and must respond without undue delay and within one month at most. In the US, the CAN-SPAM Act requires senders to honor an opt-out within 10 business days.
Send your objection through Uber’s privacy inquiry page. Uber Help has a page to submit a privacy inquiry.
Example text
Objection to direct marketing (Article 21 GDPR) Dear Uber, Under Article 21(2) GDPR, I object to the use of my personal data for direct marketing, including newsletters and promotional email. This concerns the email address I am sending this message from. Please stop using this address for marketing and confirm that you have done so. Kind regards,
What keeps coming
Order confirmations, shipping updates, receipts and password emails are not marketing. They keep coming after you unsubscribe, and that is how it should be.

Not just Uber
Free scan. €4.99 once to unsubscribe. No account, nothing stored.
Scan my inbox for free →Uber is rarely the only sender in your inbox. in-boxed scans your inbox for free and shows every sender of promotional email, each with its route to get off the list. For a one-time €4.99 it sends the unsubscribe requests for every sender you pick. The scan reads only email headers, runs in your own browser and stores nothing.
Frequently asked questions
Will I still get Uber trip receipts?
Yes. Uber says you cannot opt out of transactional messages, including trip receipts and support messages, because they are needed to use Uber.
Does turning off email also stop Uber push notifications?
Uber manages email, text and push preferences through its communication settings. Check each channel there.
How long until the emails stop?
An email that was already scheduled can still arrive. Under GDPR a company must act on an objection without undue delay and within one month at most; under CAN-SPAM in the US, within 10 business days. If marketing keeps coming after that, you can complain to your data protection authority.
