Unsubscribe from Etsy emails

Etsy says you can opt in and out of most of its emails in your account settings. A few emails it is required by law to send, such as order notifications and Terms of Use updates, cannot be turned off.

How to unsubscribe

  1. Change the Emails tab in Account settings

On Etsy.com, go to Your account, then Account settings, then the Emails tab. Under Your Notifications and Your Subscriptions, deselect the emails you no longer want and choose Save Settings.

Unsubscribing does not work? Object

If the emails keep coming, or the link does not work, you have a stronger tool. If you live in the EU or the UK, Article 21 GDPR lets you object to the use of your data for direct marketing at any time, without giving a reason. After that, Etsy may no longer use your data for it, and must respond without undue delay and within one month at most. In the US, the CAN-SPAM Act requires senders to honor an opt-out within 10 business days.

Send your objection through the Etsy Privacy Policy. The Etsy Privacy Policy explains how to exercise your privacy rights.

Example text

Objection to direct marketing (Article 21 GDPR) Dear Etsy, Under Article 21(2) GDPR, I object to the use of my personal data for direct marketing, including newsletters and promotional email. This concerns the email address I am sending this message from. Please stop using this address for marketing and confirm that you have done so. Kind regards,

What keeps coming

Order confirmations, shipping updates, receipts and password emails are not marketing. They keep coming after you unsubscribe, and that is how it should be.

Scan my inbox for free →

Etsy is rarely the only sender in your inbox. in-boxed scans your inbox for free and shows every sender of promotional email, each with its route to get off the list. For a one-time €4.99 it sends the unsubscribe requests for every sender you pick. The scan reads only email headers, runs in your own browser and stores nothing.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I still get some emails from Etsy?

Etsy says certain emails are required by law, like notifications when an order is placed and updates to its Terms of Use. Those keep coming after you opt out of the rest.

I sell on Etsy. Should I turn everything off?

Etsy recommends sellers stay subscribed, because it uses email for site updates and new features. You can still deselect the subscriptions you do not want.

How long until the emails stop?

An email that was already scheduled can still arrive. Under GDPR a company must act on an objection without undue delay and within one month at most; under CAN-SPAM in the US, within 10 business days. If marketing keeps coming after that, you can complain to your data protection authority.
