Unsubscribe from ASOS emails

ASOS manages marketing email and texts through Contact Preferences in your account. Its customer care page also mentions the Unsubscribe button in its marketing emails, and says a change can take up to 7 days to take effect.

How to unsubscribe

  1. Untick options in Contact Preferences

Log in to My Account and select Contact Preferences. Untick the options you no longer want and use the Confirm preferences button.

  2. Click Unsubscribe in a marketing email

According to ASOS, you can also click the Unsubscribe button in one of its marketing emails.

  3. Turn off app notifications separately

In the ASOS app, push notifications are under My Account, Notifications. Switch off the toggles you do not want.

Unsubscribing does not work? Object

If the emails keep coming, or the link does not work, you have a stronger tool. If you live in the EU or the UK, Article 21 GDPR lets you object to the use of your data for direct marketing at any time, without giving a reason. After that, ASOS may no longer use your data for it, and must respond without undue delay and within one month at most. In the US, the CAN-SPAM Act requires senders to honor an opt-out within 10 business days.

Send your objection through the ASOS Privacy Policy. The ASOS Privacy Policy explains how to contact ASOS about your personal data.

Example text

Objection to direct marketing (Article 21 GDPR) Dear ASOS, Under Article 21(2) GDPR, I object to the use of my personal data for direct marketing, including newsletters and promotional email. This concerns the email address I am sending this message from. Please stop using this address for marketing and confirm that you have done so. Kind regards,

What keeps coming

Order confirmations, shipping updates, receipts and password emails are not marketing. They keep coming after you unsubscribe, and that is how it should be.

Scan my inbox for free →

ASOS is rarely the only sender in your inbox. in-boxed scans your inbox for free and shows every sender of promotional email, each with its route to get off the list. For a one-time €4.99 it sends the unsubscribe requests for every sender you pick. The scan reads only email headers, runs in your own browser and stores nothing.

Frequently asked questions

I unsubscribed from ASOS but still get emails. Why?

ASOS says it can take up to 7 days for an unsubscribe to take effect. Order and delivery emails are not marketing and keep coming.

How do I stop the ads on the ASOS order confirmation page?

ASOS says those come from its partner Rokt. To opt out, email privacy@rokt.com with the subject Opt Out, or change your cookie preferences in the ASOS cookie notice.

How long until the emails stop?

An email that was already scheduled can still arrive. Under GDPR a company must act on an objection without undue delay and within one month at most; under CAN-SPAM in the US, within 10 business days. If marketing keeps coming after that, you can complain to your data protection authority.
