Stop Netflix emails

Netflix lets you choose which emails you get for each adult profile, by category, from new seasons to membership offers. Its help page also offers an Unsubscribe from All option. Emails about your account, like security alerts and billing, cannot be turned off.

How to unsubscribe

  1. Turn off categories in Manage Emails

In a browser, sign in to the profile you want to change and go to the Account page. Select Profiles, choose the profile, then Notification settings and Manage Emails. Toggle off the categories you no longer want, such as Watch recommendations or Membership offers.

  2. Use Unsubscribe from All

On the same page, Netflix offers Unsubscribe from All to opt out of every category at once.

  3. Repeat for each profile

Netflix sets email preferences per adult profile with an email address, so check every profile on the account.

Unsubscribing does not work? Object

If the emails keep coming, or the link does not work, you have a stronger tool. If you live in the EU or the UK, Article 21 GDPR lets you object to the use of your data for direct marketing at any time, without giving a reason. After that, Netflix may no longer use your data for it, and must respond without undue delay and within one month at most. In the US, the CAN-SPAM Act requires senders to honor an opt-out within 10 business days.

Send your objection through Netflix privacy help. The Netflix Help Center explains how to stop certain uses of your personal information.

Example text

Objection to direct marketing (Article 21 GDPR) Dear Netflix, Under Article 21(2) GDPR, I object to the use of my personal data for direct marketing, including newsletters and promotional email. This concerns the email address I am sending this message from. Please stop using this address for marketing and confirm that you have done so. Kind regards,

What keeps coming

Order confirmations, shipping updates, receipts and password emails are not marketing. They keep coming after you unsubscribe, and that is how it should be.

Scan my inbox for free →

Netflix is rarely the only sender in your inbox. in-boxed scans your inbox for free and shows every sender of promotional email, each with its route to get off the list. For a one-time €4.99 it sends the unsubscribe requests for every sender you pick. The scan reads only email headers, runs in your own browser and stores nothing.

Frequently asked questions

Can I keep the "new episodes" emails and stop the rest?

Yes. Netflix splits email into categories such as What you watch, Watch recommendations and Membership offers. Keep the ones you want and toggle off the rest.

Why do I still get billing emails from Netflix?

Netflix says you cannot unsubscribe from messages about your account, such as security alerts, billing and time-sensitive notifications.

How long until the emails stop?

An email that was already scheduled can still arrive. Under GDPR a company must act on an objection without undue delay and within one month at most; under CAN-SPAM in the US, within 10 business days. If marketing keeps coming after that, you can complain to your data protection authority.
