Stop Pinterest emails

Pinterest says you can unsubscribe from your settings or from any Pinterest email. Its help page adds that it can take a day or two for your settings to update.

How to unsubscribe

  1. Turn off email in your settings

Log in, open Settings, click Notifications, open How you get notifications and switch off the toggle next to Email. Click Save.

  2. Click Unsubscribe in a Pinterest email

Scroll to the bottom of an email from Pinterest and click Unsubscribe, then Confirm. That stops this type of email. To stop all of them, deselect every type of email you currently receive.

Unsubscribing does not work? Object

If the emails keep coming, or the link does not work, you have a stronger tool. If you live in the EU or the UK, Article 21 GDPR lets you object to the use of your data for direct marketing at any time, without giving a reason. After that, Pinterest may no longer use your data for it, and must respond without undue delay and within one month at most. In the US, the CAN-SPAM Act requires senders to honor an opt-out within 10 business days.

Send your objection through the Pinterest data protection officer form. Pinterest has a contact form for its data protection officer.

Example text

Objection to direct marketing (Article 21 GDPR) Dear Pinterest, Under Article 21(2) GDPR, I object to the use of my personal data for direct marketing, including newsletters and promotional email. This concerns the email address I am sending this message from. Please stop using this address for marketing and confirm that you have done so. Kind regards,

What keeps coming

Order confirmations, shipping updates, receipts and password emails are not marketing. They keep coming after you unsubscribe, and that is how it should be.

Scan my inbox for free →

Pinterest is rarely the only sender in your inbox. in-boxed scans your inbox for free and shows every sender of promotional email, each with its route to get off the list. For a one-time €4.99 it sends the unsubscribe requests for every sender you pick. The scan reads only email headers, runs in your own browser and stores nothing.

Frequently asked questions

Does one Unsubscribe click stop all Pinterest email?

No. According to Pinterest it stops that type of email. To stop everything, deselect all email types or switch off Email in your notification settings.

I turned email off but Pinterest still emails me.

Pinterest says settings can take a day or two to update. If emails keep coming after that, check whether they go to another email address on your account, or contact Pinterest.

How long until the emails stop?

An email that was already scheduled can still arrive. Under GDPR a company must act on an objection without undue delay and within one month at most; under CAN-SPAM in the US, within 10 business days. If marketing keeps coming after that, you can complain to your data protection authority.
