in-boxed unsubscribes, it never deletes. Your existing mail stays where it is. Some shops send receipts through their marketing system; if one shows up in your list, you tap Keep.

One unsubscribe button isn’t always the whole story.

Gmail’s unsubscribe button only works when a sender supports it, and you get no confirmation. Not every sender supports a reliable one-click unsubscribe. in-boxed finds the way out each sender actually has, and takes care of the technical part.

  1. Unsubscribe by emailWe write the email for you, to the right address. You read it and press send, so it stays dated in your own sent items as a record.
  2. Finish on their websiteMany senders confirm only on their own page, and often let you keep the mail you still want. We open it for you and tell you what to do there.

Your privacy, in detail

  • Why does in-boxed need access?in-boxed only accesses the metadata needed to identify newsletters and unsubscribe options, so it sees who has emailed you, not what they wrote. It never edits or deletes anything on its own. It looks for the List-Unsubscribe header that mailing lists use, not personal email, and you see every sender first and choose what happens to each one before anything is sent.
  • Nothing stored. Ever. The scan runs entirely in your browser. No emails, no addresses, no logs of your inbox, your data never touches our servers.
  • No account. No subscription.Pay €4.99 once, reset your inbox, leave. Nothing to register, nothing to cancel.
  • We never read your emailsWe only ever see who sent what. The text of your emails, the subject lines and the attachments never reach our servers.
  • The whole scan runs in your browser. No inbox database to breach, nothing to sell. We count anonymous, cookie-free usage statistics only, never who you are.

What you can check yourself

  • A registered Dutch company. in-boxed is run by BonDigital, listed in the Dutch Chamber of Commerce register under number 42079017. Real name, real address, real VAT number, all published on this site. Company details →
  • Check the privacy promise yourself. Open your browser network tab while you scan. Every request that touches your inbox goes straight from your browser to Google or Microsoft and back. The only other requests are anonymous usage counts and error reports, and none of them carries inbox data. It takes about thirty seconds to confirm. How it works →
  • Verified by Google. Google has completed its OAuth verification review of in-boxed’s Gmail access. That review included an independent security scan, which returned zero vulnerabilities. Verification is not an endorsement: it means our access and data use were checked against Google’s API policies.
  • A published security contact. We publish a security.txt so researchers can report a problem directly, the way any serious service does. Most consumer apps never bother. security.txt →

Your inbox needs a reset.

Most unsubscribe services are designed to keep managing your inbox. in-boxed is designed for one job: reset the commercial noise, then disappear. No account, no subscription and no ongoing mailbox access.

In 2017, a popular free unsubscribe service was found selling its users’ inbox data to third parties. That business model only works when a tool stores your data. in-boxed stores nothing, so there is nothing to sell.

What early users say

“Turned out 118 senders were mailing me newsletters. I had no idea. Unsubscribed from all of them in a couple of minutes.”

Julian · 118 senders found

“Only did the free scan at first. Then I saw how many there were and figured I would just save myself the time. Time is money.”

Thomas

“I am not much of a privacy freak, but it does feel good that for once the data is not stored somewhere.”

Dave

“Nice that you do not have to take out an account or a subscription first. Quick, too.”

Frequently asked

Is in-boxed safe? Do you read my emails?

No. We can’t read your emails. in-boxed only accesses the metadata needed to identify newsletters and unsubscribe options, so it can see sender and unsubscribe-related headers, never the content of your messages or subject lines. The scan runs in your browser and nothing is stored on our servers, after your session there is simply nothing left of you on our side. The connection is limited to the sender and unsubscribe information needed for the scan. Your message content, subject lines and attachments stay private.

Will my important emails be affected?

in-boxed is designed to detect mailing lists, not personal email: it looks for the List-Unsubscribe header, a bulk-mail standard that colleagues, friends or family never use. Some webshops send receipts through that same marketing platform, so those can show up too. You see every sender first and explicitly choose which ones to unsubscribe from. Anything you leave untouched stays untouched.

Does unsubscribing actually work?

Yes. Under GDPR, every sender must act on your opt-out without undue delay, within one month at the latest. Under CAN-SPAM (US), senders have up to 10 business days. in-boxed uses the unsubscribe routes each sender actually publishes. Some can accept a standard one-click request; others need an opt-out email or their own preference page. We show you the route and never call a sent request a confirmed unsubscribe.
