Built so you never need us again.

One morning I opened my Gmail and found 94 unread newsletters. I unsubscribed by hand: click, scroll, wait for a confirmation page, retype my email address. Fifteen minutes in, I gave up and got annoyed instead.

Here's what actually annoyed me: every single one of those emails already carried what it needed to unsubscribe me automatically. It's called a List-Unsubscribe header, it's been a standard since 1998, and Gmail uses it for its own unsubscribe button. The fix was sitting right there. Nobody had bothered to use it on my behalf.

So I built in-boxed to do what Gmail already does, one button at a time, for your entire inbox at once. Not to build something you'd need forever. To fix this and get out of your way.

Why we don't want your data

Most email tools ask for full access to your inbox. They read your messages, store them, analyse them, and often sell what they learn to someone else. We think that's a bad trade to ask of anyone who just wants out of a newsletter.

in-boxed only ever asks for read-only access to your Gmail or Outlook metadata: the List-Unsubscribe header and the From field. We never see your subject lines, message bodies, attachments, or anything else in your inbox. We can't sell what we never had.

When your session ends, everything about it goes with it. We have no database. Nothing to breach, nothing to sell, nothing left lying around. That's not a promise we're asking you to trust. It's how the thing is built.
