Why does in-boxed need access?
in-boxed only accesses the metadata needed to identify newsletters and unsubscribe options, so it sees who has emailed you, not what they wrote. It never edits or deletes anything on its own. It looks for the List-Unsubscribe header that mailing lists use, not personal email, and you see every sender first and choose what happens to each one before anything is sent.
Walk through it first, no inbox neededWalk through an Inbox Reset with sample data. Nothing connected, nothing sent, nothing charged.
Less promotional email. Everything important still arrives.

How it works
Stops the marketing. Leaves the rest alone.
in-boxed helps stop
- Sales & promotions
- Newsletters
- Marketing campaigns
- Commercial mailing lists
in-boxed leaves alone
- Order confirmations
- Travel updates
- Security emails
- Receipts & invoices
- Account emails
- Personal emails
You review everything before anything happens.
in-boxed unsubscribes, it never deletes. Your existing mail stays where it is. Some shops send receipts through their marketing system; if one shows up in your list, you tap Keep.
One unsubscribe button isn’t always the whole story.
Gmail’s unsubscribe option sends the standard request a sender publishes, and that is where it stops. You get no confirmation. in-boxed picks up where it ends: an opt-out email in your name, or the sender’s own page, with us beside you at every step.
- Opt-out emailWe write the email for you, to the right address. You read it and press send, so it stays dated in your own sent items as a record.
- Preference centerMany senders confirm only on their own page, and often let you keep the mail you still want. We open it for you and tell you what to do there.
- Standard requestThe standard unsubscribe request goes along as extra support. Only when a sender offers nothing else do we suggest it on its own, and you decide.
More than one way out.
Your Inbox Reset doesn’t just press unsubscribe for you. It helps you take the route that leaves a confirmation or a record, one sender at a time. The technical details →
Why in-boxed
Your inbox needs a reset.
Most unsubscribe services are designed to keep managing your inbox. in-boxed is designed for one job: reset the commercial noise, then disappear. No account, no subscription and no ongoing mailbox access.
In 2017, a popular free unsubscribe service was found selling its users’ inbox data to third parties. That business model only works when a tool stores your data. in-boxed stores nothing, so there is nothing to sell.
What you can check yourself

What early users say
“Turned out 118 senders were mailing me newsletters. I had no idea. Unsubscribed from all of them in a couple of minutes.”
“Only did the free scan at first. Then I saw how many there were and figured I would just save myself the time. Time is money.”
“I am not much of a privacy freak, but it does feel good that for once the data is not stored somewhere.”
“Nice that you do not have to take out an account or a subscription first. Quick, too.”
Frequently asked
Is in-boxed safe? Do you read my emails?+
No. We can’t read your emails. in-boxed only accesses the metadata needed to identify newsletters and unsubscribe options, so it can see sender and unsubscribe-related headers, never the content of your messages or subject lines. The scan runs in your browser and nothing is stored on our servers, after your session there is simply nothing left of you on our side. For Gmail, in-boxed uses Google’s gmail.metadata permission. This provides access to limited message metadata and headers, such as sender information and unsubscribe headers, but does not permit access to email bodies.
Will my important emails be affected?+
in-boxed is designed to detect mailing lists, not personal email: it looks for the List-Unsubscribe header, a bulk-mail standard that colleagues, friends or family never use. Some webshops send receipts through that same marketing platform, so those can show up too. You see every sender first and explicitly choose which ones to unsubscribe from. Anything you leave untouched stays untouched.
Does unsubscribing actually work?+
Yes. Under GDPR, every sender must act on your opt-out without undue delay, within one month at the latest. Under CAN-SPAM (US), senders have up to 10 business days. The signal we send is identical to clicking “unsubscribe” yourself, just sent to all senders at once.
